1955 Buick Special Station Wagon
Here is a good story for you. Remember Fritz, the guy I bought the 1954 Cadillac from? If not, refer back to my 1954 Cadillac convertible on this site. The saga continues.
20 years after purchasing the Cadillac from this guy, I’m driving through a different neighborhood in the same city. I see this wagon in front of a house. Looked nice! I knocked on the front door and guess who opened it up…..Fritz, the same guy, different house. He looked at me and said “Hi Steve, interested in the wagon?” What a coincidence. Turns out I remembered he had told me about a station wagon in storage in San Jose with very low mileage. Very low for a 55——34,000 documented miles.
Oh well, lets take a look. Perfect. Seems that the original owner took the car in to a garage to get a small ding fixed on a handshake. I understand he was in his 80’s. Shortly thereafter, he passed away and his wife didn’t know where the car was. It sat for years until Fritz spotted it and put the story together and traced down the wife. Shocked, she found the title and sold it to Fritz.
The car had the original floor mats, the interior was not almost perfect, it was perfect. It had a rare “three on the tree” and period after market air conditioning that worked perfectly.
I brought it home and enjoyed it for many years. I should have taken more pictures of it. When I dig them out, I’ll post them.
I sold the car when something else came along, since I can’t seem to talk my wife into a warehouse the size of Costco.
